“Sí, se puede.” This week, we remember Dolores Huerta (1930–2026).

Dolores Huerta was a pioneering labor organizer, civil rights advocate, and champion for women, immigrant families, and the American worker.

As co-founder of the United Farm Workers, Huerta helped organize farmworkers and negotiate historic improvements in wages, working conditions, health benefits, and workplace protections. Her advocacy also helped advance the right of agricultural workers to organize and bargain collectively.

But her legacy extends far beyond the fields.

She championed women's leadership, civic participation, educational opportunities, and the dignity of families whose voices too often went unheard.

May her legacy continue to inspire generations of women to lead, serve, and lift others as they rise.

We may not all agree on immigration policy. But we can recognize the humanity of the people whose lives it affects.

On Tuesday, October 27, Hermanas and chapters can participate in the I Stand With Immigrants Colleges and Universities Day of Action, an annual nationwide initiative that brings campus communities together to celebrate immigrant contributions, share personal stories, and advocate for resources and policies that support immigrant and undocumented students.

SIA is a member organization of the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, which has partnered with Voto Latino—an official partner and collaborator of the Day of Action—to encourage participation across our communities.

Here are a few ways you can get involved:

❤️ Share your story.
Highlight your family's heritage, immigration experience, or why standing with immigrant communities matters to you.

💛 Bring people together.
Host a conversation, cultural celebration, or campus event that creates space for connection and understanding.

💙 Make your voice heard.
Engage with your elected representatives, learn about the policies affecting your community, and participate in the civic process.

Tomorrow, October 10, is World Mental Health Day.

Between reports of conflict and uncertainty on college campuses and in communities across the country, there's a lot to process right now.

And sometimes, what we see on the news or social media can bring up difficult memories, fears or emotions connected to our own experiences.

As we recognize World Mental Health Day, here are a few ways to care for yourself and one another when it all starts to feel like too much.

❤️ Set boundaries with the news.

It's okay to take breaks from social media, turn off notifications or limit how often you check for updates.

💛 Pay attention to how you're feeling.

If something brings up difficult emotions or memories, try grounding yourself in the present. Take a few slow breaths, notice your surroundings or do something that helps you feel safe.

💙 Stay connected.

Reach out to someone you trust. You don't have to process difficult experiences or emotions alone.

❤️ Know where to find support.

If your feelings become overwhelming or interfere with daily life, consider reaching out to a mental-health professional.

Campus s*xual violence is once again receiving national attention.

We have undergraduate Hermanas learning on college campuses across the country. We have alumnae who once walked those same campuses.

We have chapter leaders helping create cultures where members feel safe and supported. And we have Hermanas whose lives may have been directly affected by s*xual violence.

One way we can care for one another is by knowing what resources are available before they're needed.

is the nation's largest anti-s*xual violence organization and operator of the National Sexual Assault Hotline. It recommends that college students identify their campus Title IX office, confidential survivor advocate (if available), student health center, mental-health services, campus safety resources and local s*xual-assault service provider.

This information should be saved somewhere easy to find. You may never need it, but someone you care about might.

Not sure what Title IX is?

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that protects students from s*x discrimination at schools that receive federal funding. Sexual harassment and s*xual violence may fall under Title IX.

Your school's Title IX office can help you understand your rights, reporting options and available support

❤️ FRIDAY: Casual and comfy. Many of you will be checking in, then joining the Gamma Beta chapter and Marvellous Midwest Region's Pyjama Paint 'n Sip party.

To start the day, think travel trousers, coordinated sets, and then sleepytime chic for the welcome party (e.g. loungewear, sweats, socks or slippers).

💛 SATURDAY: Professional during the day for breakfast, a Q&A with members of our Governance Committee and Board of Trustees, workshops, shopping and photos.

This is the time for blouses, blazers, skirts and slacks.

💙 SUNDAY: Wear your letters with pride as we close out the weekend. You already know what to do, but our on-site vendors will help ensure you're ready to represent.
