Touro's Graduate School of Education was officially established in 1993 and, today, is among the largest schools of education in the state of New York. Our enrollment draws on the constantly-evolving urban community of New York and reflects an extremely diverse student body, including students from all over the world. Consistent with Touro's mission, the School of Education remains solidly committ

ed to high quality universal education. Our goal is to offer exemplary programs and to graduate outstanding students prepared to provide superior future leadership in the field of education. In addition to serving traditional full-time graduates who have recently completed their undergraduate degrees, Touro’s Graduate School of Education supports the academic needs of applicants who are already employed and who desire to upgrade their professional preparation or obtain additional credentials. Therefore, evening, weekend, and online classes are offered to accommodate the needs of working professionals. The School of Education, the largest in the Division of Graduate Studies, is dedicated to excellence in education for a rapidly-changing education environment. In order to provide school districts and other educational agencies with highly professional and competent teachers, administrators, and educational personnel, every effort is made to maximize the quality of our programs. To this end, the School continues to strengthen its internal systems for supporting the high performance of both students and faculty; develop new programs that can effectively meet the contemporary needs of schools – especially those serving high-needs and diverse student bodies; and expand the School's collaboration with a wide range of national and state stakeholders in education. The School currently offers seven graduate degree programs and six certificate programs leading to New York State certification. in Education and Special Education (including an online/blended program option) http://gse.touro.edu/academics/masters-programs/education--special-education/

is the celebration of the workers who have shaped America into what it is today. And, as every school employee knows, our schools are filled with some of the hardest-working individuals in the country.
Preparing the next generation of workers and leaders is one of our most important responsibilities, and we are deeply grateful to those who make it possible.
To all the educators, school professionals, and future teachers whose work helps shape tomorrow—thank you for all that you do.
Wishing the entire Touro GSE community a happy and restful Labor Day! 🗽📚

"Literacy is really about how we understand and use information in any form... Realizing that every single subject has its own unique way of reading and communicating was a MAJOR lightbulb moment for me." 💡
We are incredibly proud of our students at Touro GSE! Recently, Ashley Kelly shared a beautiful reflection with Professor Andrea Kane about how her perspective on literacy has transformed, and how she’s bringing those lessons into her 9th-grade special education algebra classroom.
Instead of assuming students can just jump into solving equations, Ashley is planning to teach her students how to "read" math. By breaking down word problems, translating abstract symbols, and using visual and hands-on tools, she is removing the reading barrier so her students can focus on the actual math. 🧮✨
Most importantly, Ashley is dedicated to building her students' confidence and showing them that they truly belong in her classroom.
Thank you, Ashley, for your dedication to inclusive education, and thank you to Prof. Kane for guiding our future educators! 🌟
