Admin announcement: Welcome to the Preppy Handbook Fan Club 2.0 page. We have created a fun safe space for people who enjoyed the book, love the clothes and decor, respect the Ethos, just want a lighthearted place to hang out on social media that is welcoming to ALL people, or E all of the above. Some members went to prep school and some people did not. Some went to Ivy League schools, or other great colleges and universities mentioned in the book, and some people went to trade school or the school of hard knocks. We have Doctors, lawyers and finance people as well as chefs, day care workers, mechanics, teachers, carpenters, artists, designers, and even self-made millionaires who own plumbing businesses. Most of the members are hard working people who range from restaurant servers to large corporation CEOs, some CEOs who started as servers, and even a few servers who were CEOs. We see this page as a respite from all the divisiveness on social media. America is supposed to be a meritocracy where all people should have the chance to succeed based on their own hard work and not just for the privileged few born into certain families, so everyone is welcome. Lisa was satirizing the New England “Elite” who attended prep school, but all people can enjoy the lifestyle as little or as much as they like. We’re here to educate, share, laugh and sometimes cry a little too. There are people in the group who are traditionalists and see the TOPH as a rule book or maybe never needed to see the rules written down. Likewise, there are members who feel that we’re not stuck in 1980 and the style has evolved. For the good of the group we can embrace our commonality and accept our differences gracefully.
