The Columbia Pre-Law Society is accepting another round of applications for the 2021-2022 academic year. We are taking applications for the following positions: Treasurer, Secretary, Academic Affairs Chair, Marketing Chair, Mentoring Chair, and Engagement Chair. Please find the descriptions of the available board positions below:
Treasurer
The Treasurer oversees the allocation of funds for activities and keep records of all transactions. They are responsible for directing funds in the event of a co-sponsorship, deciding on budget and expenditures and makes plans for fundraisers and investments (with approval by the Board).
Secretary
The Secretary sets the location and time for meetings, notifies all members of meetings, and keeps minutes of meetings and records of all transactions
The Secretary also transfers all information to the incoming Executive Board at the end of each year. In addition, they are responsible for sending out weekly/bi-weekly newsletters to general body members to inform them of upcoming events, deadlines, etc.
Academic Affairs
The Academic Affairs Committee is tasked with helping students get into law school. This committee plans several LSAT workshops with TestMasters as well as panels that give students insight into the law school admissions process (ex: The “How to Get into Law School” panel).
Marketing Committee
The Marketing Committee is responsible for the Pre-Law Society’s entire marketing strategy and implementation. Every event held by every committee is marketed via MailChimp newsletters, Facebook, and Instagram. Marketing also plays an incredibly important role when it comes to Lawlapalooza promotion and designs.
Mentoring Committee:
The Mentoring Committee is responsible for organizing all of the club’s mentoring initiatives, including the Mentoring Circle, Columbia Law School Mentoring Program, and other mentoring opportunities throughout the year with alumni, law students, and members of Pre-Law Society.
Engagement Committee
The Engagement Committee leads and creates content for general body meetings such as mock trials, trivia nights, and lessons about important cases.
