🎉
We held the CCNY Center for Worker Education (CWE) Fall 2026 New and Re-Entry Student Orientation today. It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome our students and introduce them to the many resources available to support their academic journey and success.

During the orientation, we discussed academic success programs, academic advising, accessibility services, financial aid, the Writing Center, library services, IT support, and the wide range of resources available through CCNY CWE.

We are excited to welcome our new and returning students and look forward to supporting them as they begin a successful and rewarding Fall 2026 semester.

Faculty Highlight: Professor Susanna Rosenbaum

What does it mean to study the Americas through an interdisciplinary lens?

The M.A. in the Study of the Americas explores the interconnected histories, cultures, and inequalities of North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean. Led by Dr. Susanna Rosenbaum, the program encourages students to examine the region across borders, disciplines, and perspectives.

"We are deeply rooted in interdisciplinary studies and our students learn that different parts of the Americas can't really be understood in isolation."

Denise Carter-Martabote found the perfect fit at CCNY CWE when she was looking for a graduate program that combined academic excellence with accessibility.

As a member of the Class of 2019 and Valedictorian, Denise balanced graduate school while raising two teenagers. She discovered a welcoming learning environment where dedicated faculty challenged and supported her, helping her explore new ideas and grow both personally and professionally.

Located in downtown Manhattan, CWE provided the flexibility and convenient access she needed, while opening the door to new opportunities. Inspired by her experience, Denise chose to pursue a career in education and continue her academic journey toward a master's degree in teaching.

Her story is a reminder that it's never too late to invest in your future. At CCNY CWE, adult learners can find the support, flexibility, and opportunities they need to achieve their goals.

Whether you are starting college for the first time, continuing your education, or returning through CUNY Reconnect, our Admissions Workshop is the place to begin and jump start your future.

We were honored to participate today in a brilliant lecture by Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University and United Nations Under-Secretary-General, at the Grove School of Engineering.

In his presentation on Artificial Intelligence, sustainable development, and the future, Prof. Marwala explored how AI can support sustainable development across critical areas such as climate action, healthcare, education, and resilient urban design. He also examined AI’s role in accelerating progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and discussed the United Nations’ efforts to shape responsible, inclusive, and ethical AI governance to ensure that the benefits of AI are distributed equitably across societies.

The lecture highlighted both the transformative potential of AI and the importance of international cooperation in addressing the challenges and opportunities it presents.

We are also pleased to note that The City College of New York and the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health are collaborating on a new joint Master of Arts in the Study of the Americas, with a concentration in Urban Sustainability Studies Across the Americas. This innovative program will prepare students to address the complex environmental, social, and technological challenges facing cities throughout the hemisphere while advancing the goals of sustainable and inclusive development.
