Today is the day, and we could not be more proud of all that you have accomplished. Congratulations, Class of 2026!

To commemorate this special milestone, we published a congratulatory message in yesterday's newspaper edition as a tribute to this remarkable graduating class. Copies will be available at the ceremony for graduates and families who would like to keep one as a memento of the occasion.

If you’re on the northbound 1 train platform at Rector St. station, you’ll see our Class of 2026 student, Shakeema Simmons.

Shakeema came to CCNY CWE from BMCC and is now graduating with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, concentrating in Childhood Studies.

Completing her degree was not an easy journey. Like many of our students, Shakeema faced the realities and hardships that so many New Yorkers experience — balancing multiple responsibilities and life challenges while continuing to pursue her goals and dreams.

Through her perseverance, determination, and refusal to give up, along with the immeasurable support of RECONNECT, she made it!

Next week, Shakeema will walk at commencement, inspiring those around her and showing the next generation in her family what’s possible. Her daughter has been celebrating every step of the journey alongside her mom.

Now that’s intergenerational inspiration.

About last week ❤️...

Students shared their final art installations in the hallway and auditorium, along with informal performances during studio class time.

A memory/dream drawing station was also set up for guests to participate and draw alongside the students.

Thank you Professor Deanna L. Vasquez for creating a relaxed and collaborative environment for learning, experience, and sharing.
