Last week, at Reunion, we celebrated alums making big contributions in their fields, communities, and the life of the College during our Alumni Awards ceremony.

Congrats to honorees Nancy Papaioannou ’96, Cheryl Wilkins ’00, Lisa Tachick Hooper ’95, and Matt Corridoni ’13 (pictured with Interim President Naccarato), and Lee Sowles ’06 and Aaron Glick ’06, who were unable to join us.

🔵Aaron Glick
Sr. Judith Savard Award for outstanding contributions to the arts
Aaron is a three-time Tony and Olivier Award–winning producer whose credits include Purpose, Kimberly Akimbo, The Boys in the Band, Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, and the upcoming A Wrinkle in Time.

🔵 Lisa Tachick Hooper
Père Jean Gailhac Award for outstanding and continuous service to MMC
Lisa, who danced professionally with companies such as the Albany Berkshire Ballet and Ballet Metropolitano de Caracas, served as an MMC trustee and established a scholarship for dancers.

🔵 Matt Corridoni
Geraldine A. Ferraro Award for outstanding achievement in law/public service
Matt is a communications strategist who’s held senior roles for Pete Buttigieg, Seth Moulton, Jake Auchincloss, and the Harris 2024 campaign. He is a communications advisor for Majority Democrats and The Bench.

🔵 Cheryl Wilkins
Raymunde McKay Award for distinguished service/outstanding contributions to the community
Cheryl was among the activists who helped restore college programming at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, with support from MMC and partnering institutions, after funding cuts in the 90s. She co-founded and co-directs Columbia’s Center for Justice, advancing alternatives to incarceration.

🔵 Lee Sowles
Dean Peter H. Baker Award for a lifelong commitment to education
Lee, who holds an MPH from Northeastern, founded Kind Mind, a social and emotional learning program that transforms how children develop life skills.

🔵Nancy Papaioannou
Dr. Marvelle Colby Alumni Award for outstanding achievement in business
Nancy became the first Greek woman president of an American bank, leading Atlantic Bank. She’s president/CEO of NAMA Financial Markets & Consultants.

Hope Knight ’85 has held many roles at MMC—student, alumna, adjunct business professor, trustee, board chair, and MMC parent, with her son graduating in 2025.

At the College’s commencement ceremony on May 22, she’ll add yet another: honorary degree recipient. Knight, the president, CEO, and commissioner of Empire State Development—New York’s primary economic development arm—and the first African American to lead the agency, will receive an honorary doctor of humane letters degree in recognition of her trailblazing leadership in business and public service.
