Dr. Patricia Ramsey, President of Medgar Evers College/CUNY, was honored to deliver the keynote address at the Women’s League of Science and Medicine, Inc.’s 66th Scholarship Celebration.

This year’s inspiring theme, “Let us be a strong bridge from those who come before us to those that will follow,” reminds us that investing in today’s students builds tomorrow’s leaders.

Congratulations to the 14 outstanding students who received college scholarships! Your hard work and dedication have opened the door to incredible possibilities.

A special thank you and congratulations to Amelia Rawlings-Henry, President of the Women’s League of Science and Medicine, Inc., along with the organization’s officers and members, for your unwavering commitment to expanding access to higher education and empowering the next generation of scholars.

Class of 2026 Valedictorian

Astiaque Ahmed

Candidate for Bachelor of Science in Financial Economics

Astiaque Ahmed is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Economics with a current GPA of 3.963. During his time at Medgar Evers College, Astiaque’s academic achievements landed him on the Dean’s list seven times and on the President’s List four times. It’s an even more impressive accomplishment given the fact that he arrived in the United States after emigrating from Bangladesh in 2020 in the midst of a pandemic and without having completed his academic education before arriving in his new country. In November 2025, Astiaque became a U.S. citizen and during his last semester, he squeezed an internship at Senator Kevin Parker’s led to his joining Alexander’s consultancy firm as an NYSERDA Climate Justice Fellow and studying for the LSATs with a goal of attending law school.
