New School ESL

New School ESL English Language Studies at The New School offers Certificates in English as a Second Language with

The English Language Studies Department is part of the New School for Public Engagement, the New School University in New York City. The department offers intensive classes in English writing, speaking, grammar, and reading. Many of our students are taking intensive English classes in order to be prepared to enter other schools in the New School system, especially Parsons School of Design and Mannes College of Music.

MEMORY BOX

In this workshop, you will listen to a story from your partner and build a physical box that brings that story to life.
You will practice storytelling, listening, sketching, and making — all at the same time.



Objectives

At the end of this workshop, you will:

o Practice sharing and listening to personal stories
o Translate feelings and memories into visual form
o Make thoughtful decisions about mood and craft
o Build something original that only you could make
