Smithtown Central School District in Suffolk County, Long Island, is currently hiring Academic Intervention Tutors – Elementary.
Academic Intervention Tutors are part-time certified teachers who provide academic intervention services in math and/or reading for students in grades K–5. Tutors work four days per week for a total of 19 hours weekly and may substitute teach on their day off.
Minimum Qualifications:
-New York State certification in Elementary Education, Reading, and/or Special Education
-Applicants must be appropriately certified prior to the start of employment
Desirable Qualifications:
-Dual certification preferred
-Experience with instructional practices and literacy interventions aligned with the science of reading
-Formal training and experience using UFLI Foundations, Fundations, Heggerty, and Eureka Math
-Experience with RtI and student progress monitoring
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Experience providing small-group instruction in math and reading
-Knowledge of Google Classroom and instructional technology
Bilingual communication skills preferred
Salary: As per STA Contract — $27,477.59, equivalent to $36.15/hour
