NEW: International Student Support Group
Day/Time TBD
Group Facilitator: Dr. Inez Strama, Deputy Director of Student Counseling Services and Nonny Mahachi, LCSW, Clinical Fellow
This is a safe and confidential space for international graduate students to connect with others who understand what it’s like to study abroad. We’ll talk through managing different cultural expectations and identities, family stress, language barriers, unfamiliar academic norms and academic competition, imposter syndrome, homesickness, and balancing school with well-being. We’ll also make room for the stress and uncertainty of geopolitical events, both here and in your home country. Together, we’ll build community, share coping strategies, and learn tips to support your academic success. You do not have to navigate graduate school alone.
Your visa status will not be asked about or recorded, and your participation stays confidential within the Wellness Center. Another common concern is being in the group with someone you know, which we can discuss when we meet for a pre-group individual screening.
