ACS - St. John's University Chapter

We are the St. John's University student chapter of the American Chemical Society. Join us on StormS

Our aim is to provide students the opportunity to learn about research, job and networking opportunities revolving around Chemistry. Most importantly, we seek to develop a sense of community between students, faculty and the greater community as a whole through chemistry.

REMINDER: our last meeting for this semester will be this Thursday 12/1 during common hour in MAR 137A!

We will be hosting Ms. Ellen Burti from SJU’s Career Services for a workshop on building your resume, as well as how to prepare best for grad school applications.

This is a great meeting to attend especially for STEM students and those applying to internships, medical schools, or graduate schools. We hope to see you there! Pizza and refreshments will be served.

REMINDER: our next meeting will be taking place today 11/3 on zoom at 2pm!

We will be having a guest speaker, Laura Williams talk about her research and journey towards getting her PhD. She is a current PhD candidate studying at Purdue University and is open to answering any questions about chemistry career pathways. Hope you can join!

Reminder! This Thursday, we will be hosting three awesome professors in SJU’s chemistry department to learn more about their research. This is a great opportunity to build connections with faculty, learn more about scientific research, and possibly join a lab on campus which is great for your resumé and future goals!

Come join us in Marillac 138 tomorrow Thursday 9/29 and don’t forget to grab a slice of pizza!

Just a reminder that we will be hosting a booth from 12-3pm at the Activities Fair tomorrow 09/07, so come visit and learn more before our first meeting 09/15 during common hour!

REMINDER: The 2022 Careers in Cosmetic Chemistry Symposium will be taking place this Saturday 4/30 from 10am-1:30pm in DAC 206. This is a great opportunity to meet and hear from experienced and prominent leaders in the field of cosmetic chemistry. They will be discussing their research and careers and will also be holding a Q & A session.

As this is our last event, we hope to see you all! We really enjoyed meeting you all this semester and wish you the best of luck with finals!

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped out at SJU’s Accepted Student’s Day and the STEM Challenge at Northport High School! It was a blast and we enjoyed seeing you all enjoying your well-earned treats!

Exciting meeting this week! We are hosting Dr. Hyslop from SJU’s chemistry department, who will be presenting on the chemistry behind chocolate. Come join and try some of the different chocolate samples!
