Hi Legal Tech Society,
We invite students (1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls, and LLMs) with an interest in how technology can improve and transform the practice of law to participate in a workshop series hosted at Columbia Law School in partnership with Neota Logic. The first workshop in the series will take place on Friday, February 28 from 1pm - 3pm. Lunch will be provided.
Through this series of workshops, we hope to equip students with a knowledge base of easy-to-use tools, designed for non-programmers, that students can use to build their own legal tech applications and solutions.
This workshop series will build towards the ultimate goal of sending one team (or more) from Columbia to Brooklyn Law School's Annual CUBE Innovations Invitational, a legal tech startup competition open to law students throughout New York, in April - https://www.brooklaw.edu/Centers/CUBE/Innovators-Invitational

If you would like to participate in the first workshop on February 28, please RSVP by emailing Alison Hung at [email protected] no later than 11:59pm on Tuesday, February 25. We will follow up with registered participants with more details, including a Neota Logic account log-in, closer to the date.
What is Neota Logic? Neota is an award-winning no-code AI automation platform, providing professionals with a wide range of easy-to-use tools to rapidly build applications that automate any aspect of their services.
1) I don't have any programming experience or skills. Can I still participate?
That's perfect! Neota is designed for people who are not programmers, and you will learn everything you need to build an app at the workshops, led by Kevin Mulcahy (VP, Education & Community Programs, Neota Logic and Adjunct Professor of Law, Georgetown Law). All you need is a laptop, a commitment to learning how to build an application in Neota's platform, and an interest in leveraging technology to develop solutions to legal problems.
2) I'm interested in participating, but I don't have any specific ideas for an app. Is that okay?
Yes -- as part of the workshop series, Neota Logic will provide some sample application topics/concepts to guide students' learning. Our hope is that through this process, students will be inspired to develop their own ideas.
3) What is the overall timeline and structure of the workshop series?
The workshop series will consist of 4 workshops (at Columbia Law School), and students who want to participate will have the opportunity to pitch an idea at the CUBE Invitational at Brooklyn Law School. Each participant will receive their own Neota log-in and ongoing technical support from Neota (for those who want to work on v1 of their app on their own time).
We encourage students to attend all of the workshops and participate in the CUBE Invitational to get the most out of this opportunity, but participation in the competition is not required.
