If you're interested in French culture, or love good food and company, make sure to like our page! Are you in the French department here at Columbia? Does your academic interest can and does seep into every day life? Do you love macarons, croissants, jambon and pinot noir and want to learn more about it? Do you care about the place of France in the international community? We would like to extend
an invitation for any students also interested in expanding or preserving a culture that they love here in New York—no knowledge of the French language required. The French Cultural Society is a community of French students and francophiles introduce and explore this wonderful culture together, and in our organization you will find French students who have come here to study their own culture though a different lens, or those have left France and wish to continue experiencing bits of the wonderful country here. One of the perks of being in our organization is being at the forefront of events and opportunities that would allow students to experience French culture, which of course includes navigating the French major or concentration here at Columbia or studying abroad in France in any way (interested in the Music/Art Humanities program, Reid Hall, Aix-en-Provence, and the HEC Business Program? sign up for a newsletter!). We also hold casual conversation workshops, editing partnerships (having a French or American partner that you can quickly ping if you have a question about how to use a particular phrase, for example), screenings, museum visits, pastry- and crepe-making courses as well as wine-cheese-charcuterie tastings throughout the academic year, as well as talks by professors or specialists about issues that concern the place of France in the international community or in relation to the United States.
