FIT Toy Design Department

FIT Toy Design Department Play is the essential joy of childhood. FIT Toy Design is a BFA program for students to learn to create inspiring toys for the infant to ‘tween markets.

Founded in 1989, the Toy Design Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology is the world's first and foremost accredited baccalaureate program dedicated to toy design. FIT Toy Design is part of the SUNY college of art, business, design, mass communication and technology connected to the fashion industry. It is located on West 27th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues in the Chelsea neig

hborhood of New York City. Judy Ellis, the founder and chair of the program was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2013 for her outstanding contributions to the toy industry. In 2016 she was awarded the rank of SUNY Distinguished Professor, the most prestigious title given in the New York State University system. The Toy Department currently has over 400 alumni actively working in the toy design industry for leading brands across the country and around the world.
