Study abroad at Fordham is part of a long-standing tradition of Jesuit education that seeks to enhance students’ understanding of the world’s peoples and their interdependence. Our goal is to help students gain an understanding of other cultures and to incorporate a global dimension to their chosen fields of study. Fordham prides itself in offering its students one of the most extensive networks f

or foreign study of any major university. As such, it is important to research your options, to become familiar with the different types of programs Fordham offers as well as the applicable academic and financial guidelines and policies. What would matter most to you in selecting a study abroad program? A destination and the length of the intended program? Opportunities to do course work on your major? Would the prominence of a given city or foreign university and the richness of the culture of the host community be more important to you? What about commitment to linguistic, cultural and academic immersion? Do you have specific academic goals or interests you would like pursue in a foreign academic setting? Please stop by our offices—the ISAP staff looks forward to working with you and to offering the advising and services you will need to get the most out of your experience abroad.

Fordham in London Liberal Arts students took a trip to Amsterdam!

“This past weekend, all of the Fordham London liberal arts students took a train trip to Amsterdam. The school offered us many different academic and social activities. It was fun to travel with so many Fordham students!”

Bell arrived in South Korea!

“Seoul has been an exciting whirlwind for me! It's been great getting to know the city, culture, and people around me, and I'm constantly enjoying every minute. Transportation has been super efficient, and most places (cafes, photobooths, restaurants, convenience stores, and so much more) are open 24/7. I've explored certain districts such as Hongdae, Gangnam, and Mapo, and they each have their own charm to them. In the streets, there are many talented performers who sing, dance, or play instruments late into the night. My recent and favorite memory so far is hiking Bukhansan Mountain and reaching the peak with my friends!”

Check out where you’ll take classes in Granada from Hayley!

“I’ve loved taking my classes at the University of Granada! They’re taught in Spanish which has really helped my Spanish speaking and comprehension skills. On my walk to school I’ll grab a coffee or get a snack with my friends after class. Granada has a large student population so there’s a good chance you’ll find a student discount! The first picture is of the Centro de Lenguas Modernas and the second is my scenic walk to school!”

Learn about the classes you can take in Ireland!

“Maynooth University offers a certificate program in Irish Cultural Heritage, which is what I’m doing. Our most recent trip was to the 6th century monastic settlement of Glendalough, which was beautiful! Course work involves writing site reports on places we go see, and going to Irish National Museums and writing about our favorite exhibits!”

What classes can you take in Cambodia? Check out Karin’s schedule with SFS!

“Class time is split pretty 50/50 between lectures in our center’s classroom and experiential learning out in the field. Our professors are some of the best in the business, and their engaging lectures are paired with educational tours, guest speakers, hands-on field work, and interviews with representatives from organizations we learn about in class!
We have periodic assignments due throughout the semester, which my classmates and I work on together in our student lounge or at local cafés on our days off!”

What classes can you take in London? Check out some of Liam’s favorites!

“For some of my classes, I have been able to enhance my experience through hands-on opportunities. I visited the Imperial War Museum for my 20th Century European History class and a radio exhibit at the London Science Museum for my International Communication class. I also attended the on-campus London Speaker Series to learn about business in the UK.”

Ireland is the perfect place to study abroad to immerse yourself in history, stunning landscapes, and ancient castles!

“The past couple weekends I've gone on trips to Galway and Cork! From Galway my friends and I biked across the coast of Inis Mor (stopping to say hi to any cows along the way), and hiked the Cliffs of Moher, which were both incredible experiences. From Cork we visited Blarney Castle where we kissed the Blarney stone and explored the beautiful castle grounds. And we've been making sheep friends along the way!”

Studying abroad in Rome makes it easy to visit other cities in Italy! Check out Zach’s trip to Florence!

“This past week I went on a school-sponsored day trip to Florence! I saw many famous works of art, ate at a well known sandwich shop, and went on a tour led by one of my art teachers. My friends and I decided to take the train up the coast and continue the rest of the weekend visiting the beautiful villages of Cinque Terre!”

Find out why Granada is the perfect place to study abroad from Hayley!

“One of the great things about studying abroad in Granada is exploring the city and places around it! I visited the Alhambra, which overlooks the cut of Granada. Later in the week, my friends and I went hiking!”

Hey everyone! This week, as part of my Ecosystems & Livelihoods, Khmer Language & Culture, and Ethics & Development courses, we visited Kulen National Park!
