After exploring acting, writing, and different fields of study, Alaya Walton found her way back to school on her own terms, discovering a passion for storytelling, research, and investigative journalism along the way.

Now at GS, Alaya is pursuing her interest in Sociology, with plans to explore the intersections of media, colorism, neurodivergence, and representation. Her experiences as a writer, actress, and student have shaped her desire to use research and storytelling to create platforms for communities who feel unheard and misunderstood.

For Alaya, GS represents a second chance to expand her intellectual curiosity and pursue an education that reflects the questions and ideas she’s passionate about.

Dual Degree Program Director, Dr. Jacob Erickson and the entire Dual Degree team welcomed Dean Lisa Rosen-Metsch, Vice Dean Curtis Rodgers, and Senior Associate Dean Jessica Sarles to visit the Trinity College Dublin campus last month to meet with first and second year students in the Dual Degree Program. We had an excellent turnout in the TCD global room, shared news from the Columbia campus, and had an open Q&A with students!
