The nerves? Real.

The stakes? High.

The work? Intense.

And, no, we’re not just talking about the Columbia football team as it searches for its third straight win on Saturday.

The Lions’ Dance Team, which features Barnard students, is ready to put on a show at halftime in front of the biggest crowd they see all season — Homecoming.

The Columbia Spectator caught up with two Barnard dancers — Celine Lagdameo, BC ’27, and Kyra Li, BC ’27 — as they talked about the sisterhood that comes with repping Columbia blue, as well as their final Homecoming as seniors.

Here’s the story:

The halftime show—an American tradition originating from the college marching band, for the American sport of football—is a hallmark of U.S. sports culture. The performances, especially those outside of college football, such as in the Super Bowl, feature the world’s biggest artists and have b...

Epic halftime shows aren’t just reserved for that big game in February.

And courtesy of the Columbia Dance Team, you don’t have to go far to experience next-level entertainment.

This Saturday, just a short jaunt down the road at Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium, you can check out some Barnard dancers putting on a Homecoming performance months in the making.

Krystal Medina, a Barnard sophomore, scored a dramatic goal in the 89th minute to propel the Columbia women’s soccer team to an improbable come-from-behind, Ivy League win over rival Penn, 3-2, on Saturday.

Medina’s unassisted goal gave the Lions their third straight win, moving to 3-1 in Ivy League play and tied with Harvard and Dartmouth atop the league standings.

This is the second consecutive game that Medina capped Columbia’s scoring, netting her first goal of the season on October 10 against Cornell.

On Monday, the world got to know Michael Woodford, the 2026 Nobel Prize winner in Economics.

We know him as one of the nine co-founders of the Cognitive Science Program that spans Barnard College, Columbia College, and Columbia University.

We know him as an advisor to Barnard students’ senior projects.

We know him as current member of the Cognitive Science Program’s steering committee.

We know him because he has chosen to make his mark in Morningside Heights — and the world.

Congratulations, Professor Woodford, on this milestone moment.

Women supporting women.

On the pitch; in the classroom; in life.

Congratulations to Columbia University women's soccer on 40 years of representing Morningside Heights with class, competitive spirit, and tenacity to make a difference — on and off the field.

Barnard College is proud to be a part of a consortium that allows our students to play Division I athletics, but even prouder of the community and connection that has been built because of it.
