Today at Screen Scoring Composers Forum, we were honored to welcome back Jongnic “JB” Bontemps: a powerhouse media composer whose work spans blockbuster films, television, documentaries, and games.

JB shared insights from his remarkable career, from early work on "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" (winner of the first-ever NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Score) to scoring the new Netflix series "Boots." He also generously critiqued several students’ rescoring assignments for a scene he originally scored, offering thoughtful, practical feedback on storytelling and musical intent.

A Brooklyn native with roots in gospel and jazz, JB has become one of today’s most versatile composers. His credits include "Creed II," "World’s Best" (Disney+), "Wedding Season"(Netflix), "The 4400" (CW), "Redfall" (Arkane Studios), and acclaimed documentaries such as "Citizen Ashe," "My Name Is Pauli Murray," and "United Skates."

Huge thank you to JB for sharing his experience and inspiring our community today!
