Over the weekend 20 department members joined forces with our colleagues at the NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing to walk 4 miles through Central Park for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Together we raised awareness and supported survivors while strengthening our NYU community. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated to our team, and supported us! 🎀

Even children’s music icon LaurieBerknerBand has stars she looks up to! In this clip, Laurie reveals that legendary performer Julie Andrews was one of her biggest creative inspirations growing up. We recently held our first Hands-On Self-Defense Course of the semester for 24 students! Three trained self-defense coaches helped our participants prepare to feel more confident and self-assured in their ability to protect themselves in the real world. Riding an e-scooter around campus this semester? Lock up smart! 🛴🔒

Recent campus safety data shows that over 90% of e-scooter thefts on campus involved thin cable or combination locks that were cut in under a minute—even in broad daylight outside high-traffic spots.

Swipe through for 5 simple ways to protect your ride this semester ➡️

1️⃣ Upgrade Your Armor: Cable locks aren’t enough. Switch to a hardened steel U-lock or folding lock.

2️⃣ Lock the Frame: Always loop your lock through the solid main frame stem—never just the handlebars or removable parts.

3️⃣ Watch the Clock: Avoid leaving scooters parked on public exterior racks overnight or for multi-hour stretches.

4️⃣ Get Violet Tagged: Register your vehicle with DCS for free so we can identify and return your ride if it’s ever lost or recovered.

5️⃣ Use the Tisch Bike Rack: Located on W 3rd St., it’s enclosed, only accessible by NYU community members, and staffed with a Campus Safety Officer throughout the day. In Brooklyn, park at Othmer Hall.
