Feathermen.org The Order of The Feather is a leadership, service and fraternal organization for young men in and around the New York City area since 1946

OUR STORY
Founded at Camp Minisink, over 1000 young men have since “crossed the burning sands”: successfully completing a six month “pledging” period during which each met the rigorous and character building standards of The Order. These young men have since gone on to ever more successful endeavors; and to assume leadership and service roles in this- and other communities across the nation. he Or

der of the Feather Fraternity is a young men’s service, mentoring, and Rites of Passage program that follows a fraternal model. Originating from Minisink Townhouse in 1946, our core intake consists of young men ages 14-18. We have grown to include chapters in Harlem, Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx

Once young men who are interested in joining take the oath to pledge, they become “Plainsmen”. One of the first things a plainsman is given are a list of 10 qualities they need to aspire to if they hope to join the Order of the Feather. This is just the first step of a 6 month process designed to build the character and integrity of these young men. They will undergo many tests & trials of a mental & physical nature designed to prepare them to “cross the burning sands” into the Order of the Feather.
