2014 IDRS Double Reed Flash Mob- For the first time in history IDRS will be hosting a flash mob for all double reeds on the closing night of the conference! Dr. Christopher Wickham, professor of bassoon at Rutgers University, will be directing this event of a lifetime geared towards double reeders of all ages and abilities. Come and join over one hundred bassoonists, contra bassoonists, oboists, a
nd english hornists in this special event as we serenade New York City in NYC summertime style with a medley of “Summertime Sadness” and “New York, New York”. To participate in this special event please do the following:
1. Like this page to receive updates as the event nears.
2. Print out your part- goto CWReeds.com, click on IDRS Flash mob, select and print out an appropriate part for your ability. I encourage you to select any parts (bsn/ob 1, 2 or 3, english horn, or contra). Please feel free to select the contra part and play on bassoon.
3. Memorize your part from letter E to the end! We took into consideration the restrictions of instrumentalists playing in an outdoor flash mob when arranging the parts so they are pretty simple and easy to commit to memory.
4. Attend rehearsal on Wednesday August 6th 12 noon - 1:30 @ the Kimmel Center on NYU Campus (60 Washington Sq. South, New York City, NY 10010) There will only be 1 rehearsal for this event so only those who attend the rehearsal will be allowed to participate in the flash mob. There will be a bit of choreography/staging involved to make this event happen successfully so attendance is mandatory.
5. The performance will be on Saturday August 9th @7 pm - Location TBA at rehearsal. If you have any questions about this event please contact Dr. Christopher Wickham via email @ [email protected]
Thank you for your interest and participation in the first ever Double Reed Flash Mob!
