We’re excited to highlight Lilly Moreau, one of our second-year MPH students, whose practicum work has been published in Prehospital and Disaster Medicine!

Through her work with SEARCH WNC, she contributed to a community assessment examining recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene in rural Western North Carolina.

Congratulations, Lilly, on this incredible achievement!

💙💛UD MPH Epidemiology alumni spotlight

We’re proud to highlight Adam Bitunguramye, UD MPH Epidemiology alumnus and co-author of a new article in 📖 The Lancet Regional Health – Africa | December 2025

“The cholera crisis 2025: a basin-wide emergency of equity, fragility, and inaction” shows that cholera outbreaks in Kinshasa (DRC) and Brazzaville (Republic of Congo) are not isolated events, but a shared, cross-border public health emergency across the Congo River Basin.

The article highlights shared vulnerabilities; chronic water insecurity, poor sanitation, unregulated river transport, climate-driven flooding, weak surveillance, and fragile health systems, that place urban poor, displaced communities, children, riverbank populations, and women at highest risk.

The authors call for urgent, coordinated action: joint surveillance and real-time reporting, targeted WASH investments, sustained financing, stocked health systems, and community-led engagement.

It’s inspiring to see UD MPH Epidemiology alumni contributing to high-impact global health research and informing equity-centered public health action.
