UD nursing students spent 10 weeks working full-time as nurse externs at CHOP, which is consistently ranked among the best children’s hospitals in the country. Paired one-on-one with experienced nurses, the students completed three 12-hour shifts each week and rotated through two units.

After Emma Beisheim-Ryan earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree with University of Delaware Physical Therapy in 2017, Beisheim-Ryan stayed at UD to pursue a doctorate in biomechanics and movement science (BIOMS). During that time, she worked as an instructor in the UDPT Clinic and with patients in UD's Limb Loss Studies Laboratory — an experience that would reshape her career.

Morgan Ellithorpe, associate professor of communication in University of Delaware College of Arts & Sciences teamed up with Susan Conaty-Buck, assistant professor of nursing, to determine whether artificial intelligence (AI) could help people with disabilities and their caregivers navigate complex healthcare systems. The project team also includes two UD graduate students and an advisory board made up of community members who are disabled and caregivers of people with disabilities.
