Congratulations to DCN graduate Kelly Cardamone, DCN, RDN, LDN, FAND, on her recent publication in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics!
Dr. Cardamone’s research examined how RDNs provide medical nutrition therapy to individuals using GLP-1 receptor agonist-based therapies for obesity and diabetes. Surveying RDNs nationally, the study identified both strengths and important variations in current RDN practice. This timely work reinforces the critical role of RDNs in helping individuals using GLP-1 therapies optimize nutrition, manage side effects, preserve lean body mass, and achieve positive long-term outcomes.
Dr. Cardamone conducted this research as a student in the Rutgers DCN program, working alongside DCPNS faculty mentors and co-authors Dr. Laura Byham-Gray, Dr. Joachim Sackey, and Dr. Rebecca Brody.
Congratulations to Dr. Cardamone and her Rutgers faculty mentors on contributing important evidence to this rapidly evolving area of nutrition practice!
