Hello Chess Fans!

Leela Chess Zero appears to be getting stronger, with an FIDE rating of around 2500. Here LCZ plays against Grandmaster Andrew Tang, the first game lasting around 28 moves and 18 minutes.

On April 22nd 2018 a match, scheduled for 14 games, between the Neural Network AI Leela Chess Zero and Chess Grandmaster Andrew Tang was played on lichess.or...

"After playing 48 games, the match was still drawn, and the president of FIDE turned down the match as he said the match was deteriorating the player's health, physical and mental, and the match will be rescheduled for 1985.

Here is a game from this 1985 match!

Hello Chess Fans!

This article is really interesting. Maxime's trapped rooks are special. Whenever one of his own rooks are trapped with barely anywhere to go, you'd assume it would be a useless piece. Yet, perhaps not. Here is a list of games his rook has been trapped, yet it still acts as a gamechanger.

In the end of October 2000, I played a traditional chess tournament: Cap d'Agde. It was a memorable event for me. First, it is not every day you mingle with such legends as Anatoly Karpov. Also, the way we entered the stage was quite remarkable. Right before the start of my semifinal match vs. GM Mi...

Hello Chess Fans!

We talked about AlphaZero a lot, now here's the start of Leela Chess Zero. The difference is that you can play against it if you want. It is at about a National Master's level on a regular PC, and you can play against it for free. http://play.lczero.org/

The description as to what Leela actually is is from 0 to 3:20, the actual game is from 4:15 onwards.

It hasn't beaten Stockfish 8 like AlphaZero can and will on a regular PC, and national masters and above can still beat it's best strength. Leela is like AlphaZero, except it's publicly created. You can play against Leela Chess Zero if you want. Leela's learning is unlimited; the training is similar to AlphaZero's because it trains against itself. The thing that makes Leela different is that people can suggest improvements as well as the fact that it can be trained on multiple people's computers, including yours if it's powerful enough. Here, a National Master plays against Leela.

Since NJIT is located within the United States, I figured that this would be of interest to us, because we're all Americans as well as whatever other culture we identify with.

Hello, Chess Fans! Meet Fabiano Caruana.
He will give the Americans a good chance of winning the Chess World Championship of 2018.

Statistically based on previous games,
Caruana has about a 30% chance of beating Carlsen and winning Chess World Champion for USA.

He grew up in Brooklyn; while once joining the Italian team, he has rejoined the American team to be our first World Champion candidate since Bobby Fischer.

For the first time since Bobby Fischer captivated the country, a U.S. grandmaster has a shot at becoming the undisputed world chess champion. Fabiano Caruana, t…
