Today the 49 public science seedlings found winter shelter in Gloucester VA and Luna is keeping watch over them! We'd like to thank you once again for helping to spread the word about the fear and hope for addressing climate change and saving this endangered ecosystem.

Like their mature siblings in coastal swamps, growth has stopped for the winter. As the 2022 growing season begins, the 49 will return to CNU to continue the study, growth chamber seedling research will resume, An Achievable Dream students will visit the CNU campus to begin data analysis, and several new AWC salt tolerance studies will launch in schools across Tidewater!

Peace!
The Fear to Hope team

PS. the 49 seedlings in this photograph are arranged from the control (left) to highest salinity (1.5 parts per thousand, right). Mitchell Doyle lead the measurement of the 49 all this fall and we congratulate him on successfully completing his Masters in Environmental Science degree this week.

PPS. thanks again to those who planted nearly 800 AWC seedlings in the Great Dismal Swamp last week and to the Garland Gray DOF nursery for growing all of these seedlings!
