IT’S FELLOW FRIDAY! Our next fellow introduction is Anna Strassel!

Anna is holding the position as an Admission Fellow. She is from Chesterfield, VA, and graduated from CNU with a major in Communication and minors in Business Administration and Leadership. As a student, she was involved with PLP, Honors, LPH, CNU Women’s Rugby, APO Service Fraternity, and Study & Service Abroad.

Anna wanted to be a CNU Fellow because she wanted to grow professionally while getting to share her experiences with prospective students.

Fun fact! Anna has a miniature dachshund named Blue, after the Blue Ridge Mountains.

IT’S FELLOW FRIDAY! Our next fellow introduction is Jack Perry!

Jack is holding the position as an Admission Fellow. He is from Matthews, VA, and graduated from CNU with a major in History. As a student, he founded a student organization to establish peer mentorships for students with disabilities. He also worked in the Center for Community Engagement (shoutout to Jessie and Vanessa!) to help students find their service home and facilitate partnerships with local community partners.

Jack wanted to be a CNU Fellow because CNU is his home, and he wasn’t ready to leave when he graduated. He says being able to stay at Christopher Newport, now as a staff member, is a dream come true because he can now share with prospective students the magic of CNU.

Fun fact! Jack is fascinated by cars, and once wrote a 15+ page paper on the history of automobile safety devices in Postwar America for his senior seminar. He says he’s the go-to person for any car-related questions from his friends!

IT’S FELLOW FRIDAY! Our next fellow introduction is Jasmine Williams!

Jasmine is holding the position as an Admission Fellow. She is from Midlothian, VA, and graduated from CNU with a major in Cellular, Molecular, and Physiological Biology and a minor in Leadership Studies. As a student, she was involved with the President’s Leadership Program, Honors Program, Greek Life, and CAB.

Jasmine wanted to be a CNU Fellow because she wanted to give back to her Alma mater in a new way and spread information about my favorite place!

A fun fact about Jasmine is that her dream job is to be a sunset chaser!

University Fellow Applications are Live! This opportunity is intentionally designed professional experience that combines significant contributions to the CNU Community with unique opportunities for learning.

These positions are open to current CNU student that will be graduating in December 2024 or May 2025.

Application Deadlines vary for each department:

Due by January 20th: Student Affairs, President’s Leadership Program, & Residence Life and Housing Administration

Due by February 4th at 11:59pm: Admission

The applications for the University Fellowships are officially live!

They can be found on CNU’s HR website under the Administrative/Professional tab. Each department has their own application, so the deadlines/interview timelines will vary.

If you are interested in learning more about the University Fellowship, join us for our information session in the Admission Presentation Room (CNH second floor) on Tuesday Jan 14 @ 4pm or Wednesday Jan 15 at 12pm!

IT’S FELLOW FRIDAY! Our next fellow introduction is Joey Hamel!

Joey is holding the position as a President’s Leadership Program Fellow. He is from Charlottesville, VA, and graduated from CNU with a major in Political Science and minors in Communication and Leadership Studies. As a student, he was involved with the President’s Leadership Program as a Leadership Adventure Facilitator, Student Director, and a media center student employee.

Joey wanted to be a CNU Fellow because he wanted to get a lot of experience and professional development in a familiar setting with friendly people.

A fun fact about Joey is that he high fives a shark!

IT’S FELLOW FRIDAY! Our next fellow introduction is Julian Cruz!

Julian is holding the position as the Admission Fellow! He is from Falls Church, VA, and graduated from CNU with a major in Music: Creative Studies. As a student, he was involved with the Marching Captains, Pi Lambda Phi, Music Department Ensembles, and the CNU recording studio.

Julia wanted to be a CNU Fellow because he interested in what higher education looked like outside of the classrooms and the idea of being in the Admission Office really caught his eye. He has always done his best effort to guide and mentor newer students at CNU. This fellowship gave him a great opportunity to continue that after he graduated.

A fun fact about Julian is that he can make a good loaf of banana bread!

IT’S FELLOW FRIDAY! Our next fellow introduction is Aaliyah Smith!

Aaliyah is holding the position as an Admission Fellow! She is from Newport News, VA, and graduated from CNU with a major in Communication and a minor in Digital Humanities. As a student, she was involved in acapella, orientation, and was a senior class co-chair!

Aaliyah wanted to be a CNU Fellow, because she wanted to expand her knowledge in a new field of Higher Education. She has loved her experience as a undergrad so much that she wanted to give prospective students hope that college can be an opportunity for them.

A fun fact about Aaliyah is that she met the mom from Wizards of Waverly Place at a show choir competition!

Sarah is holding the position as a President’s Leadership Program Fellow! She is from Stafford, VA, and graduated from CNU with a major in Marketing and a minor in Leadership Studies. As a student, she was involved in PLP, Honors Program, Greek Life, APO Service Fraternity, Catholic Campus Ministry, an on campus job, study abroad, and research!

Sarah wanted to be a CNU Fellow, because she loved her time at CNU and wanted to give back to the university that gave her so much. 

A fun fact about Sarah is that she can say the alphabet backwards in 3 seconds!

IT’S FELLOW FRIDAY! Our next fellow introduction is Bailey Guare!

Bailey is holding the position as an Admission Fellow! She is from Richmond, VA, and graduated from CNU with majors in American Studies and Classical Languages and a minor in Leadership Studies. As a student, she was involved in Student Honor Council, PLP, and Social and Academic Greek Organizations.

Bailey wanted to be a CNU Fellow, so that she could share the positive experience she had at CNU. She loved her time so much she wanted to stick around for another year to help recruit future captains. Also, this job provides a safe environment to learn about post-grad life and work, while pushing her to grow professionally. She is able to be surrounded by peers who are just as passionate and motivated as she is, so she able to constantly growing.

A fun fact about Bailey is that she has three sisters. She love to travel (she has been to 6 countries so far). Also, she loves sunrises and sunsets.
