We’re excited to share that the Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst will be renamed the Charles River Campus of UMass Amherst in January 2026.

Following months of input from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and university governance groups, the new name was selected for its strong connection to Greater Boston and the campus mission to connect students to professional development opportunities in the region.

The campus continues to grow with industry-aligned internship pathway programs, the Career Launch semester for first-year students, Veterinary Technology, graduate and workforce training programs, and summer housing for students interning across Greater Boston.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their perspectives throughout this process.
