Boston College Global Health Initiative: Nicaragua Undergraduate and graduate nursing students provide primary care, nursing service, and health education in one of the poorest communities in Nicaragua.

The William F. Connell School of Nursing Global Health Initiative is a clinical experience through Boston College. Undergraduate and graduate nursing students provide primary care, nursing service, and health education in Managua, one of the poorest communities in Nicaragua. BC has a longstanding relationship with this community and seeks to improve conditions by empowering local health promoters

and care providers. We collaborate with Augsburg College Center for Global Education who coordinates GHI's trips and provides classes on the health and political system and visits to cultural and clinical sites. Please help support this valuable service-learning opportunity with a donation to:

Many regions of Nicaragua rely heavily on the sugar cane industry for their economy. Around 70% of these sugar cane workers will develop Chronic Kidney Disease, though the cause of such a high morbidity rate is still unknown.
