We've been counting down all month for our 2025 Graduate Commencement and the day is almost here! Join us tomorrow, Friday, May 9, at 5 p.m. to celebrate our Lasell graduates with friends and family alike. There is no limit to the number of guests that may accompany a graduate to the ceremony.

Introducing our Student Graduate Commencement Speaker, Rachel Sanchez! Rachel began her journey at Lasell in 2023 as an OELA Laser, earning an M.Ed. focused on teaching multi-language learners and those with moderate to mild in literacy and language.

Rachel credits Lasell's practicum requirements for pushing her to excel and progress within her field.

"My student teaching really allowed for me to challenge myself," Rachel said. "Go above and beyond to really shape my career in education."

In our countdown to commencement, we're thrilled to announce our 2025 Graduate Commencement Speaker, Callie Crossley! Callie is a distinguished journalist and media professional whose work has reached both national and regional audiences. She's produced for ABC Network, as well as been a commentator for CNN, PBS, Public Radio International, and GBH Radio and Television. Callie is also the recipient of the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Award and a National Emmy.

We can't wait to welcome Callie to Lasell Campus for our Graduate Commencement on Friday, May 9, at 5 p.m. The event is not ticketed, allowing for all members of the Lasell community to celebrate the accomplishments of our 2025 graduates.

The countdown to Lasell GPS Commencement has begun, and we couldn't be more ready! Join us in recognizing our amazing graduate students as they advance to the next chapter of their lives on Friday, May 9, at 5 p.m.

Commencement will occur outdoors at Taylor Field with a reception to immediately follow indoors at the Athletic Center Gym. There is no limit to the number of guests that may accompany a graduate to the ceremony, and we're excited to join the friends and family of our graduates in celebration.

"Self-portraits are really powerful to see and even more empowering for the artist to create. I wanted to explore how I personally interact with beauty standards," said Caelan Watson, Lasell alumna and current graduate student.

Caelan graduated from Lasell with her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design in 2023 and is currently pursuing her MBA. Opening on March 4, Caelan was one of the many members of the Lasell community featured in Wedeman Gallery's Art/Word Collaborative exhibit: Authenticity.

Titled "Pretty," Caelan was inspired both by the power of beauty that woman wield as well as the concept of "pretty privilege" discussed in poetry by Heidi Becker.

"Beauty standards and the effects of fatphobia/weight bias is a project I've worked on throughout my time at Lasell," Caelan said. "I wanted to include my 'flaws' in a way that made them beautiful, too. This is why I went with such an intense and colorful piece."

"As an Industrial Designer specializing in 3D Modeling and product engineering, I felt most out of my element in the Footwear Materials, Color, and Trend Analysis course. But that’s exactly where the magic happened!" said Diego Martines Villalobos, a recent graduate of the Footwear Design & Development Certificate.

As a Senior 3D Design Engineer for Reef Footwear, Diego saw this certificate as a prime way to push himself in his creative and technical skills. In this program, students cover everything from initial design and materialization to sampling, wear testing, commercialization, and logistic—all in classrooms led by industry-professionals.

"One of the biggest draws [to the program]? The Footwear Product Development course led by none other than Elizabeth Brock-Jones—Principal Innovator at Nike with a decade of experience shaping some of the most cutting-edge footwear in the industry," Diego said.

Graduate programs like the Footwear Design & Development Certificate push graduate students to learn more and push their skills beyond the boundaries of what they thought possible.
