POV: You’re invited to our Garde Manger Grand Buffet. 🍽️✨

Garde Manger is the culinary discipline focused on cold food preparation, charcuterie, hors d’oeuvres, composed salads, decorative displays, and buffet presentation. It’s where creativity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail take center stage.

This Grand Buffet showcased the skills students developed throughout the course, featuring everything from beautifully arranged displays to carefully crafted bites designed to impress both the eye and the palate.

When Hannah Bulley enrolled in culinary school, she knew one thing: she loved cooking.

Today, she's the Director of Culinary Operations at Taste, helping lead culinary teams, train chefs, oversee production, and support multiple locations across Hampton Roads.

"I just kept trying to prove myself to move up in the company."

As we celebrate 20 years of CIV, we're proud to spotlight alumni like Hannah whose passion, dedication, and leadership continue to make an impact throughout our community.

"I probably wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't gone to CIV."

Congratulations, Hannah, on all you've accomplished. 👏🍽️

As we celebrate 20 years of CIV, we're proud to spotlight alumni whose stories remind us that success is built one opportunity, one lesson, and one leap of faith at a time.

Part of the very first graduating class, Michael Hendricks took a chance on something new when he joined CIV in 2008.

What started with chef coats, knife kits, and a passion for culinary arts led to a career overseeing food service operations at Newport News Shipbuilding through Aramark. Today, his work supports thousands of shipbuilders, Navy personnel, and contractors each day, along with large-scale events and military visits.

Michael’s story proves culinary careers can take many paths. And as we celebrate 20 years of CIV, we’re proud to honor alumni like Michael who helped shape the beginning of our story.

144 eligible graduates.
94 crossed the stage.
10 earned credentials in two programs.
1 graduate completed three. 👏🎓

Behind every number is a different story. Many of our graduates balanced school alongside work, family responsibilities, and busy schedules while continuing to pursue their passion for the culinary arts.

Congratulations to our CIV Norfolk graduates on this incredible accomplishment. 🍽️✨

🚨 New Student Alert 🚨 Please join us in welcoming Josee Mejia.

Josee will be joining our Culinary Arts program this August after graduating from Wilson Memorial High School in Fishersville, Virginia.

“I chose CIV because it’s smaller and I can have a better connection with teachers and students. I’m excited to get to meet new people and start a new chapter of my life.”

We can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes you, Josee! 🍽️
