We hope you can join us today from 11-1 for our ice cream and cake social celebrating Perry Library's 50th!

As we mark the occasion, we're dropping another one of our impactful films from 1976 and the films they inspired or influenced. Frank Pierson's A Star is Born, itself a remake of the 1937 film, received mixed reviews but proved to be the 2nd highest grossing film of 1976, bringing in $80 million at the box office. The soundtrack, of course, was an international success, with even critical reviewers of the film praising Barbra Streisand's singing performance. #1976

As an 80s baby, Rob Reiner's films have had a profound impact on me--perhaps most noticeably on my sense of humor (looking at you ). showed me that a film could be whimsical without being saccharine...or purely absurdist. Foremost in my mind in the wake of his passing, however, is that it is his voice that reads my son to sleep after a nightmare or a particularly rough day. Thank you, Rob. You are missed.

‼️ODU LIBRARIES IMPORTANT ANNOUNCMENT‼️

Perry Library will close tonight at 11pm, but users may still enter the building using a valid ODU ID or ODU’s mobile app. Perry Library will reopen tomorrow, December 9th at 7am pending university guidance.

The Hofheimer Art Library will close today at 3:30pm.

The Diehn Music Library will maintain normal operating hours and close at 2:00pm today.
