GenCyber Teacher Summer Camp on Cybersecurity and AI
Driven by its tremendous success in numerous fields, our society is entering the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI fascinates K-12 students and is ranked as the top interest among all cybersecurity-related topics. ODU welcomes middle and high school (6th - 12th Grade) STEM teachers to apply for a GenCyber Summer Camp on Cybersecurity +AI. The camp will train participants to learn the fundamentals of cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence, through a series of lectures, hands-on labs, invited talks, and a field trip to a Navy site. Assisted by a K-12 expert and camp staff, the participants will also learn to create lesson plans for two small cybersecurity or AI modules, which are suitable to be taught to middle and high school students. We will provide resources to participants to build a teacher learning community.

COVID-19 Protocols Remain in Place:

Revision to Vaccine Requirement
In accordance to Executive Directive 2, as signed by Governor Glenn Youngkin on January 15, 2022, the University revised its vaccine requirement. Students are still required to be fully vaccinated and should submit documentation regarding a booster by February 10, 2022 in the Monarch Wellness Portal.

Faculty and staff are no longer required to be fully vaccinated; however, the vaccine, including a booster, is strongly encouraged in order to maintain a healthy campus. Faculty and staff who receive a booster should also submit documentation in the Monarch Wellness Portal.

Weekly testing for non-vaccinated employees is no longer required, but it will continue to be offered and is encouraged. For additional information about the vaccine, please visit https://www.odu.edu/status/covid-19/faq .

Continuation of Masking Requirement
The University continues to require masking in all indoor facilities. A number of masking locations have been set-up across campus in order to ensure the availability of disposable masks as needed. All Monarchs should continue to exercise personal responsibility by being proactive and diligent with mask wearing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The revised vaccine requirement and continued masking requirement remain in place at ODU. Earlier this week, a COVID-19 Policy was distributed to the campus and subsequently rescinded to ensure compliance and consistency with recent state action. The policy should not have been distributed to campus as it was updated and approved prior to recent state changes and the President’s campus communication, both of which remain in full effect at ODU. Rescinding the policy also provides the greatest degree of flexibility in following the latest state requirements and federal guidance. For up-to-date information regarding ODU’s COVID-19 protocols, please visit http://www.odu.edu/covid19.
