The next eight weeks are a perfect opportunity to narrow your focus and crush your goals. Whether you are a student in the Workforce Empowerment Initiative or a professional looking to level up, now is the time to take advantage of the season.

And just like that, the 2026 WEI Symposium comes to an end!

As the host College, our team worked alongside our ICCB and ICSPS partners to make this two-day conference one to remember.

We laughed, we smiled, and worked hard—all staying centered on our mission to advance equity and student success.

A very special thank you to the community partners, employer partners, colleagues, college presidents, students, family, and friends who showed up to support this mission.

The conference is over but the work continues.... We're exhausted, yet our hearts are filled with gratitude and thanks! 🎉

Day 1 of the WEI Symposium was filled with incredible energy, meaningful connections, and lots of smiles.

It was inspiring to see so many individuals from across the state come together to support student success and workforce development.

We are head into our final day! Director Nayoka Griffis, Assistant Director Tommy Johnson, HCC Trustee / Founder of Dreams are Possible, Mary Campbell, and recent WEI graduate Jaleesa Owens will discuss our ongoing collaboration with Community Partner Dreams are Possible.

Big things are happening in Normal today! 🌟

Heartland Community College is proud to host this year's statewide WEI symposium!

Community partners and colleagues from 20 colleges throughout the state will be joining us to take a deep dive into Advancing Equity, Student Success and creating a stronger, more equitable workforce for all of Illinois.
