• Kathryn Johnson - R&D Sr. Scientist
• Vanessa Ward - R&D Scientist

They visited with 5 classes and presented during an informational session on Wednesday evening at the ARC.
AAMU administrators, Provost John Jones, VP Ali, and VP El-Dweik met with the team and attended the informational session. "PepsiCo has afforded full time (high-paying) lucrative offers to Food Science students" said Dr Verghese. They are establishing a true partnership with the FAS Department with scholarships, industry sponsored workshops/seminars, expert industry assistance with food product development and capstone projects, case studies, etc. This visit is the culmination of over 2 years of presentations, requests and talks with the Dept Chair. They are very pleased with the caliber of our students and have assured us of establishing a continued pipeline of hiring AAMU Food Science graduates.
For more information, please contact Dr. M. Verghese at 256-372-4175 (Chair) or Dr. J. Herring (FS undergraduate coordinator).

What a success! Food and Animal Sciences 1st pot luck after COVID. We had a great time getting to know one another, but even more so, learning each other’s ethnic backgrounds! Students were to bring a dish that represents their ethnic background and share the story or history of that dish. The students took the ”iron chef” competition to the next level and we had 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner for best dish! We have many more events and semester fun coming up!!!
