Inaugural annual lecture: Trans & Q***r Worlding
Stevenson building 401
May 1, 2026 1-3pm CST
Jay szpilka, post-doctoral fellow in social sciences and humanities, University of Warsaw and visiting fellow at Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland
Pleasures of Having (a) S*x
Szpilka's talk explores the pleasures of having (a) s*x without filtering the s*xed body through the analytic of gender-and its attendant, ciss*xist assumptions-that make articulating a specifically trans relationship to s*x (in all meanings of the word) particularly tricky.
Following on the lecture and discussion, there will be an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to meet Dr. Szpilka. Light snacks will be provided from the local business Buttercream and Bean. Sponsored by the Sage Fund, the Q***r Coalition, the Office of Sustainability, and the Department of English
