Illinois State University is celebrating Pride Month with programs and events hosted by Q***r Coalition at Illinois State University. Summer initiatives include Read the Rainbow, a q***r reading challenge open to all ISU affiliates; Gay Agenda Book Club meetings; and a family-friendly Pride Picnic in partnership with Prairie Pride Coalition and PFLAG Bloomington/Normal. Our next Redbird Educator Teaching Award Honoree we are to introduce - Paulina Dabrowska! πŸŽπŸ†

Paulina Dabrowska earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is completing a master’s in English Education at Illinois State University, focusing on strengthening literacy through a workshop model.

She teaches Experiencing Literature, Journalism, and AP Literature at University High School, where her classroom emphasizes creativity, discussion, and authentic learning. Paulina is dedicated to elevating student voices through experiences beyond the classroom, guiding students in producing The Clarion and The Clarionette and organizing opportunities such as public poetry readings, mock trials, and student film showcases.

She has partnered with Illinois State’s English Department and connected students with professionals, including visits to WGLT studios. Her AP Literature students consistently demonstrate strong achievement.

At U-High, Paulina collaborates with colleagues to improve instruction and mentors aspiring educators from Illinois State, helping them build practical classroom experience.
