In the Mix is a program that consists of two events, a fashion show and a Late Night Event. The term “In the Mix” comes from the concept of mixing together some of the most popular dance genres in music entertainment that would exemplify diversity amongst students. Therefore, we chose three genres: Dub-step/Electric Dance, Reggae, and current/90s Hip-Hop. The fashion show displayed clothing lines that correlated with the theme and its genres, along with student models that were of various ethnic backgrounds. We also had musical artists perform a diverse blend of songs in between scenes to prepare the audience for the next up and coming assortment of fashion. After showcasing the mix of different cultural styles, we hosted a free Late Night Event (LNE) in collaboration with Up Late @ State (Late Night Event Programming of the Dean of Students) that consisted of musical entertainment, various activities, and food which also displayed the same concept. This program benefited the entire student body of ISU by including concepts that catered to multiple cultures within the university. At the conclusion of the program there were over 600 students who attended the LNE.

Twitter Fest was a collegiate style social networking contest in which the winner received an increase in awareness of their RSO and a week of promotion for their event of choice from College Experience (formerly The Kollege Experiment). This was a positive event concept that promotes social networking, unity, and all around good fun and school spirit for the Illinois State University (ISU) student body. This event also helped us to further inform students of the recently new Late Night Event (LNE) policies established by the Bone Student Center. On the day of the event each RSO had a table to display their organization, any upcoming events, and a voter’s box. Upon arrival each student was given a voter’s card which allowed them to vote and support their RSO of choice. Thus the RSO with the most votes won the prize previously stated, but we declare everyone a winner since each organization was given the chance to promote their RSO and upcoming events to a large audience. This program benefited multiple RSOs on campus including our top participants SASSI, The Scope Magazine, and Black Student Union (BSU). Furthermore, this program benefited all students at ISU who were either a part of any participating RSO or supports them on yearly bases. At the conclusion of the event there were over 500 students who attended Twitter Fest. Our organization specializes in planning and hosting late night social entertainment events that engage the campus as a whole.
