(28 AUG 2026) Navy, Army, and Air Force ROTC came together Friday for a joint Meat Burn, bringing cadets and midshipmen from the University of Oklahoma together for an afternoon of food and camaraderie.
The event provided an opportunity for members of each ROTC program to connect outside of training, strengthen relationships, and build camaraderie among future officers across the services.
A special thank you to the Air Warrior Courage Foundation for joining us and supporting the event.
We look forward to continuing to strengthen the bonds between our ROTC programs throughout the year!

This summer, Sooner Battalion Midshipmen gained firsthand experience across the Navy and Marine Corps through their respective summer training programs.
3/C Midshipmen attended Career Orientation and Training for Midshipmen (CORTRAMID), where they were introduced to the Aviation, Surface Warfare, Submarine, and Marine Corps communities.
2/C Midshipmen continued their development through second-class cruises, serving alongside Sailors aboard surface ships or submarines and gaining a better understanding of life in the Fleet.
Navy-option 1/C Midshipmen completed their first-class cruises experiencing the responsibilities and expectations of future naval officers, while Marine-option 1/C Midshipmen attended Officer Candidates School (OCS), completing a major step toward earning their commissions as Marine Corps officers.
From the Fleet to the field, summer cruise provided our Midshipmen with valuable experience as they continue preparing to lead Sailors and Marines.
Welcome back, Sooner Battalion!

(27APR2026) Over the course of the semester, select Midshipmen were given the opportunity to attend leadership conferences hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy, Notre Dame University, and Yale University. They were able to develop their leadership skills by gaining valuable insight from senior leaders – both officers and enlisted alike. Upon returning, they briefed the battalion and shared what they learned from these experiences. This opportunity not only strengthened individual development within the unit, but also built camaraderie with Midshipmen across the nation.

(28MAR2026-29MAR2026) The battalion’s Marine-Option Midshipmen and MECEPs traveled to Fort Sill to execute Field Exercise II (FEX II). During this evolution, they completed a 9-mile weighted ruck, conducted night operations, ran a combat conditioning course, and executed both day and night land navigation. They also trained with pugil sticks and concluded the exercise with a matrix game. FEXs are vital training events that prepare our Midshipmen to successfully complete Officer Candidate School and earn the title of United States Marine.
