Online M.S. in Natural Gas Engineering & Management

Natural gas is the third largest energy source and anticipated to surpass coal in usage by 2030 as the world’s second largest energy source (EIA, 2016) because it emits almost half the carbon emissions of coal. To address this growing natural resource, the Mewbourne School of Earth and Energy has launched a new program – the Online M.S. in Natural Gas Engineering & Management. Recognized by US News & World Report for top petroleum engineering graduate programs, OU’s Mewbourne School looks to extend its expertise to this important area and deliver the program online to educate students around the world. No other university in the U.S. has a separate school dedicated to energy - making OU’s Mewbourne School of Earth and Energy the right choice for graduate level education in the natural gas field.

The Online M.S. in Natural Gas Engineering & Management aims to prepare industry professionals with both technical and managerial skills required to advance in the Natural Gas industry. It is focused on the full natural gas value chain, including exploration and production, processing, compression and liquefaction, transport, conversion to chemicals, power generation and heating. And, recognizing the importance of managing and leading change in the natural gas field, the 24-month program offers management skills included in the program. This is very important as the market continues to grow from the currently reported jobs of 336,000 (according to the DOE’s 2017 “Energy and Jobs Report”).
