Student Spotlight: Biology!
Name: Solomon Turner
1. I chose the Brevard College Biology Program because the personable & energetic professors are extremely supportive in any endeavor I wanted to pursue and they have given me tons of support and advice in everything from biological concepts to life situations. The program also allows me to continually challenge myself with knowledge that builds upon itself as I progress through the program.
2. Microbiology was my absolute favorite class (so far) because it allowed me to learn completely applicable and relevant skills related to the field of biology. Many of the skills and techniques I learned I know I will take with me and use in my future career as a researcher. The class also allowed me to perform my own experiment that I was able to manipulate in a direction so that I could explore my own interests in the classroom.
3. My experience at Brevard has given me numerous opportunities to take both leadership and support positions while also helping others achieve their own goals. There are honestly so many skills that I've gained while staying at Brevard. The biggest skills I've gained however are in communication, cooperative teamwork, and taking on responsibilities inside & outside the classroom, which will stay with me wherever I go in the future.

Student Spotlight for the Business program: Rebeccah!

1) Why did you choose the Brevard College Business program?
I chose Brevard College's Business and Organizational Leadership due to the educational experiences I would face. As an upcoming senior, the BORG major offers a way for my education to be taught while being able to apply the material to real situations.

2) What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was ORG 110, Business in a Global Context. This class is informally known as the "shark tank class". The course is designed to educate students on how to create a business, while students are creating a business plan for the final project. Just like the T.V. show, Shark Tank, at the end of the course the groups will present to the "sharks/investors" (professors, BC Alumni, and members of the BORG Advisory Board) to compete against one another for creating the best business plan. This course is one of my favorites due the competitiveness of the course while learning how to work in a group environment.

3) How has your experience at BC prepared you for your future?
Brevard College has prepared me for my future through the opportunities that I have experienced. I have had numerous public speaking projects in and out of the classroom, and I have gained the confidence to communicate in various settings with a variety of set expectations. Through this, I have been pushed past my level of comfort to where I truly begin to grow as an individual.
