Cummings School International Alumni-Student Service Program's spring lineup is off to a great start. Pictured below is Dr. Lynel Tocci, V04 mentoring Claire Brunner, V24 through the Ovariohysterectomy of one of the animals at the program's partner site, Amici Cannis Hospital in Cotacachi, Ecuador. Claire is the first of fourteen graduating clinical year Cummings School students participating in the Amici Cannis externship this spring. We will start matching TUVAA mentors with the next round of clinical year students soon, so please contact Dr. Katie Holmes, V13 at [email protected] if you are interested in more information on how you can participate!

We have had a full spring line-up of students and alumni mentors at Amici Cannis! V13 Dr. Casey Tucker and V23 students Sadie Serdahl and Sayali Karke recently finished their two week externship through our International Alumni-Student Service Program. The surgical experience the students are gaining is helping control the Ecuadorian street dog population in the surrounding region. It is hard to predict where to find V04 Dr. Lynel Tocci! Last month she was in Alaska as a volunteer veterinarian for the Iditarod. This month she is in Ecuador mentoring two more students at Amici Cannis Hospital as part of our International Alumni-Student Service Program. Calling all alum! It's time to make your vote count for the highest teaching award given by Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.

The 2023 Zoetis Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award!

Purpose: To improve veterinary medical education by recognizing outstanding instructors who, through their teaching, dedication, and leadership, contribute significantly to the advancement of the profession.

Criteria for Nomination:
1. Nominees must be faculty members actively engaged in teaching at the College of Veterinary Medicine.
2. Nominees must have demonstrated a sustained record of excellence in teaching.
3. Previous recipients of the award become eligible for consideration three years after previously receiving the award [Note: We set this at 5 years for the Cummings School].

Vote here by Friday, February 24 at 5:00 p.m.
