Could soybeans be an alternative to distillers grains in growing cattle diets?

A recent UNL Beef study found both raw and roasted soybeans can be competitive protein sources in silage-based diets, depending on price and availability.

Roasted soybeans improved feed efficiency compared with raw soybeans, while modified distillers grains resulted in the greatest gains. 🌱

High fertilizer prices don't necessarily mean applying less nitrogen.

The goal is to apply the right amount, in the right place, at the right time. Nebraska producers can use tools such as the UNL Nitrogen Tool and sensor-based and variable-rate approaches to improve nitrogen-use efficiency, protect yield potential and support water quality. 🌱
