Huge shout out and thank you to the 15th Civil Support Team of the Vermont Army National Guard for coming to speak and provide experiential learning to students interested in law enforcement and public health. CJSA and student enrolled in courses about weapons of mass destruction were able to learn how this team responds to all types of hazards both in the state of Vermont and supporting other U.S. States and territories. We are grateful for these opportunities and send a big thank you to SSG Scott O’Brien NU ‘16, WO1 Mason Lord, SGT Paul Galletta NU ‘16, & 2LT Patrick McCabe for taking the time to speak and show us what you do.

Congratulations Sir, we are excited to have you back on The Hill to speak to CJSA!

Governor of Virginia, Glenn Youngkin, announced the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Matthew J. Hanley '93 as the Superintendent of the Virginia State Police (VSP).

After a nationwide search, Colonel Hanley was selected to lead VSP based on his unmatched experience and expertise. The appointment to Superintendent includes a promotion to the rank of Colonel. Colonel Hanley has a master's degree from the Naval Postgraduate School (Center for Homeland Defense and Security), a bachelor's degree from Norwich University ('93), and is a graduate of the University of Virginia's National Criminal Justice Command College and the FBI National Executive Institute.

Congratulations Colonel Hanley!

This will be the first event in the weekend-long celebration of 50 years of women living on the Norwich campus and joining the Corps of Cadets.

Huge thanks to Sara Margalus Norwich ‘01, for taking the time to talk with our students. She gave us insight of what it is like being a private investigator for big companies and provided an in depth discussion on workplace violence. Once again we are grateful to have these opportunities for our students, and having such a supportive alumni willing to take the time out of her schedule to speak to our club!

Huge thanks to the Arlington County Police Department for taking the time to talk with our students. They were able to share their perspectives of the job and unique aspects of the department. On top of that demonstrated how to put on hand cuffs and allowed our club members to try there hands at it. Once again we are grateful to have these opportunities for our students and once again a big thank you to Corporal Ciero, and Corporal Hoffman for taking the time to speak to our club!

Meet the officers!

President: Nola Gavelis
Is from Massachusetts and enjoys exploring Vermont in her free time. Besides being club president she also enjoys participating in activities around campus. She is a class of 2024 Criminal Justice major minoring in Environmental Criminology upon graduation in the spring she plans on becoming an environmental law enforcement officer.

Vice President: Brynn Lecakes
Is from New York. Upon graduation, she hopes to attend law school and commission into the Army JAG Corps. She is in Army ROTC, and currently working as a c/SSG in Foxtrot Company in the Corps of Cadets. She is looking forward to what this year will bring!

Secretary: Alex Martinez
Is a Criminal Justice major with a Spanish and Criminology minor and a junior in the Corps of Cadets pursuing a three-letter agency contract.

Treasurer: Trista Bujaucius
Is a senior and a Criminal Justice major with Psychology and Criminology minors at Norwich. She is from Vermont but plans to go to law school after graduation in New York City. A fun fact about her is that she has 3 cats, 1 dog, and a pet rabbit at home.

Director of Logistics: Nick Mullen
Is from Massachusetts, is on the Cross Country Team. He is a C/MSG in the Corps. Also, he’s a Reserve Police Officer in Old Orchard Beach Maine and contracted with Massachusetts Army National Guard. Upon graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice and minor in Spanish he plans on becoming an MP and working civilian law enforcement in MA.

Director of Operations: Bella Belldina Ray
Is from Martinsburg, WV. She is a Criminology and Psych Major with minors in Intelligence and Crime Analysis, CJ, Poli Sci, and Leadership. Upon graduation, she plans to commission in the United States Air Force and is currently a Retention and Recruiting Corporal in the Corps Of Cadets.
