A staggering exhibition of comic art from some two dozen countries in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia. Of course, there is the expected emphasis on Japanese manga, and the show does a wonderful job there, but there are also incredible works from, e.g., India, Indonesia, China, Taiwan, the Philippines, on and on. More than 400 pieces are included, and the organization and graphic and spatial design of the exhibition are wonderful.

Comics friends, if you are anywhere within a day's travel of the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, California, do yourself a favor: go there and budget a whole day. You won't be sorry.

Curated by Paul Gravett, organized by the Barbican, and launched in Rome in 2017, this ever-evolving show is one of a very few internationally touring exhibitions of comic art, and it's a doozy.
