Today concludes the Ohio State Apprenticeship Contest. It is a capstone that reflects the pride and craftsmanship that these gentlemen spent the last 5 years perfecting.

They were chosen amongst their peers to represent the Class of 2023, and they represented well.

In a close race, Justin Havice, Plumber, received 2nd place for the State of Ohio. Justin not only possesses great skills in every aspect of his craft, he is also an incredible leader. Congratulations Justin.

In the Pipefitter competition, Tim Riley was crowned champion and will advance into District 2. I had the opportunity to work with Tim for 2 years and knew he was going to be amazing on day one. Tim's attention to detail and ability to excel under pressure will certainly take him far not only in the competition, but throughout his career.

Competitors Tom Spieth, Welder and Shane Van Vorce, HVAC, also did an amazing job representing their peers in their respective trades.

As the Ohio State Apprentice Competition is officially underway, I would like to wish the best of luck to competitors Justin Havice, Tom Spieth, Shane VanVorce, and Tim Riley. I am sure they will represent Local 50 and their contractors well. Good Luck!
