Phi Theta Kappa (Alpha Mu Gamma)

Phi Theta Kappa (Alpha Mu Gamma) Fall 2020!! Our meeting will be held virtually this semester.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for its members to grow as scholars and leaders. Established in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa has a presence on almost 1,300 community college campuses in 11 nations. The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges in

1929. More than 3.5 million students have been inducted since 1918, with approximately 250,000 active members in the nation’s community colleges, making Phi Theta Kappa a true catalyst among members and colleges. The purpose of the Alpha Mu Gamma chapter at Three Rivers Community College is the promotion of scholarship, the development of leadership, service, and cultivation of fellowship amoung qualified students of the college. To become a member of Phi Theta Kappa, you must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have accumulated a minimumn of 18 credit hours. Members of Phi Theta Kappa have opportunities to receive some of more than $36 million in scholarships provided exclusively for Phi Theta Kappa members.

Meet Cassandra Reyes she is running for Treasurer!

I am a nursing student at TRCC and I have a lot of experience at the school with being a member of different clubs and advocating for students. As a single mother, in nursing school, I am very good with planning budgets and keeping track of finances so I think I could be a great addition to this group as Secretary. I also strongly value advocating for my peers and hope to make a positive impact for all of us when it comes to PTK. Thanks for considering me and I hope to meet you all soon! Love Cassi :)

Meet Jeannette Rodriguez she is running for either Secretary or Treasurer!

Hello fellow PTK members, My name is Jeannette Rodriguez. I am have been participating with PTK since March 2020. It has been an honor to be a part of this prestigious club and I am excited to express my interest for the secretary and/or treasurer position with PTK. Spring 2020, will be my final semester before graduating with my associates in General Studies this coming May 2021. However, I will be remaining at Three Rivers Community College to pursue the Library Tech Program. A few fun facts about me: I reside in East Hartford, CT with my four children (18,8,5,3). I own a photo booth business and started my own ESTY shop a few weeks ago (fun apparel and products). I am a rabbit mom (Netherland Dwarf named Snowball) and I travel for food. I love photography and traveling. I am learning American Sign Language. I am one class shy from graduating. I hope to τ°ƒτ°„e daτ° τ°…τ°€iτ°†e a chiτ°‡dτ°€eτ°„'τ°ˆ bτ°ƒτ°ƒτ°‰. Oτ°„ τ°Šτ° τ°ˆτ°‹aτ°€e τ°†iτ°Še, I τ°Œτ°ƒτ°‡τ°τ°„τ°†eeτ°€ fτ°ƒτ°€ τ°Šτ° τ°‹aτ°€eτ°„τ°†τ°‚τ°ˆ chτ°τ°€ch, Tτ°ƒτ°τ°ˆ 4 Tots and I am a former President and current PTO Rep of a non profit organization that served over 600 students and their families. Why TRCC: I started at TRCC recently after failing at several different community colleges. After an car accident that almost took my life in December 2018; instead of taking up a hobby as per doctors recommendations, I returned to school. I needed the force to challenge myself professionally and personally. TRCC offered an online General Studies course that fit my schedule. Since than, I have only experienced successful few semesters, great professors and which in turn landed me to this very moment with PTK. I am very fortunate to take this journey towards a board position with TRCC PTK. I believe with my past history of running a non profit organization as president, my skills will help me a successful contribution to our chapter. With the skills of leadership, organization, committed to team work, planning and so much more; I believe I will be a wonder asset to any position elected for. It would be a true honor to be an active leader as a board member. (Jeanette is running for both open positions, please do not vote for her for both of them only choose one)
