Our Native Alumni Board is on town for the Fall Groups Meeting. Today we met with the other alumni groups’ (Black Alumni, Asian Pacific Alumni, Hispanic Alumni, Unity Council, ND Women Connect, Young Alumni, and Senior Alumni) board members for dinner at Eck and then met our multicultural student leaders for pizza and dessert in Dahnke Ballroom. Thanks for bringing us together MSPS !

We look forward to seeing our students at tomorrow’s ice cream social at 8:30-9:30 pm at Murphy’s.

Over the weekend, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi hosted their annual Kee Boon Mein Kaa Pow Wow. For the past four years, MSPS and NASAND have sponsored a shuttle to and from the powwow for all ND students. This year, it was many people’s first time at a pow-wow: they listened to the drums, watched the dancers, ate frybread tacos, and more, all for the first time. Perhaps the best part of the day, according to Drs. Bird and Ballew, was hearing the underclassmen say “I can’t wait to go back next year!” Migwetth to MSPS, NASAND, the Pokagon Band, and everyone who made this event possible! ☘️🔥

On Tuesday, the Indigenous Faculty and Staff Organization (IFSO) and BEAM hosted “Powwow 101” with David Martin (Pokagon Band of Potawatomi). From 2023-2024, Martin served as the Notre Dame Artist-in-Residence with the Initiative on Race and Resilience. This event was held just in time for the Pokagon Band’s annual Kee Boon Mein Kaa Pow Wow happening in Dowagiac, Michigan this weekend. If you aren’t traveling to Green Bay for the game, drop by the pow-wow and see David!
