We were proud to attend the May 26 ribboncutting for the Heritage and Resource Center (HARC) at Saint Mary’s.

The Center, a collaboration between 10 women religious congregations including the Sisters of the Holy Cross, is located on the corner of The Avenue and Madeleva Drive, the site of the College’s former Welcome Center.

According to Barbara Gordon, Executive Director, Heritage and Resource Center, HARC will preserve the rich histories, lives, and ministries of the 10 congregations through archival collections and curated displays. It will also be available to students for archival internships, course-integrated research projects, public history initiatives, and digital humanities collaborations across the tri-campus community.

HARC’s full collections are expected to be in place in 2027, but until then emails and phone calls are welcome. Learn more about HARC at their website here: https://harcsm.org

During a recent immersion trip in Tucson, nine Saint Mary’s students explored migration through learning, reflection, and direct encounters with BorderLinks. They examined immigration policy, observed court proceedings, and heard stories of resilience.

Participant Leylany Rivera ’28 shared that the experience revealed the human realities behind migration and inspired deeper reflection on justice and solidarity. Rooted in Catholic social teaching, the trip became a call to advocate for compassionate, community-centered change.
