Everyone knows about NCAA Division I, II, and III—but there’s an entire world of college swimming that often goes unnoticed: the NAIA.

Most swim parents don’t even realize it’s a real option.

The NAIA can be an ideal fit for so many swimmers who didn’t even know it existed.

NAIA stands for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
It’s a completely separate organization from the NCAA, supporting college sports programs across the country.

Many smaller private schools compete in the NAIA, and here’s what surprises most people:

-A lot of these schools have exceptional swim programs
-They offer both academic and athletic scholarships
-Students get a strong balance of academics, athletics, and social life

Not every swimmer wants the intensity of a major D1 program. Not every athlete finds their stride in D2 or D3.
For many, the NAIA is the perfect match—and it might be the right fit for your swimmer, too.

If your swimmer is beginning their college search, take a serious look at the NAIA. Oakland City University could be a great opportunity.
